Having your connected rate occasionally go negative (such as at night or when wind dies down) isn't necessarily bad, but you need to make sure that your connected rate stays positive more than it is negative, so that your batteries fill back up. If that hits 0 and your connected rate is 0, then things start shutting off. When connected rate goes negative, the game starts pulling power from "stored" energy in your batteries. The amount being used can fluctuate constantly too if you use a lot of heaters or coolers (as they switch from high to low power mode) or as you add new things that use power.

The amount of power being produced changes constantly with wind turbines, daily with solar collectors, and never with other generators (unless your fueled generator runs out.). The physics of it drives me nuts in a immersion sense, as stupid as that might sound.Connected rate is the amount of power being produced MINUS the amount of power being used.

One thing does REALLY bother me though, and I am sorry for not having a screen shot to demonstrate this: Two wind turbines right next to each other (ground paved, no debris) during a full on wind and rain storm, one turbine is 90-100% maxed out, the other 0-10%. I would LOVE to rely on geothermal more, but that is completely dependent on the map which can leave you with no other choice then. I now seem to be way over compensating with solar panels and and more energy storage which inevitable leads to catastrophic fault explosions.
I find them too be so unreliable that they are not worth factoring into my power management scheme. Honestly, and I am just one person so this is a drop in the bucket, but I feel they are indeed systemically underpowered. r/RimWorldStreams - For all of your videos and streams needs
